Dhubri: A fire broke out at the Chagolia market in Dhubri district late on Friday night, reducing six commercial establishments to ashes.The damage caused by the blaze is estimated to be in several lakhs.Police sources from the Chagolia police outpost said the fire rapidly engulfed a row of shops, leaving owners no time to save their goods.Fire tenders from Golokganj and other places across Dhubri district rushed to the spot to help bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to other shops in the vicinity, police sources said.The sources added that their initial investigation suggests that the fire originated inside one of the shops in the market. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.Talking to TOI, Nitya Ranjan Das, a resident of the Chagolia area, said six shops, including one confectionery store, were reduced to ashes. However, the exact tune of the loses are being assessed, Das added.
