Hyderabad: Rajendranagar police have booked a Tolichowki-based businessman and his 11-year-old son after a video of the latter driving an MG Cyberster convertible luxury electric sports car on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) went viral on social media.On Wednesday, a 24-second video clip of a minor driving an open-top MG Cyberster, while an adult was seated next to him with his hand raised, went viral on social media, with multiple users tagging the police to initiate legal action against the offenders.Responding to the social media posts, Hyderabad traffic police booked a case against the vehicle owner and the minor. On receiving a complaint regarding the incident, the Rajendranagar traffic police immediately deputed a team to verify the matter.“The vehicle was traced. Its owner, a construction businessman from Tolichowki, and his 11-year-old son, who was driving, were apprehended. They were handed over to Rajendranagar police and a case was registered under Sections 181 and 177 of the MV Act and Section 281 of the BNS for the offences of minor driving a motor vehicle, disobedience of lawful orders and dangerous driving,” Rajendranagar Traffic inspector Ch Raju said.According to police, the accused confessed to police that the incident happened on March 8, but the video clip of the law violation was uploaded on social media on June 11, and it came to the notice of police on June 17.Rajendranagar inspector Muthu Yadav said that the businessman and his son were issued notices as per law. “Traffic police seized the car and it will be handed over to the businessman after he attends traffic police counselling,” the inspector said.
