Gorakhpur: Prof Ajay Kumar Shukla, former head of English department at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, has assumed charge as the director of Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), succeeding Prof Chandrashekhar.MMTTC, a flagship initiative of the University Grants Commission, conducts faculty induction programmes, refresher courses, orientation programmes and NEP-2020-related training for university and college teachers across the country.With over 28 years of experience in higher education and research, Prof Shukla has been serving as professor since 2013. His areas of expertise include English literature, research methodology, academic integrity, digital education and teacher training. He has supervised 17 PhD scholars, authored and edited 11 books, and published more than 50 research papers in reputed national and international journals.An experienced academic administrator, Prof Shukla has served on editorial and advisory boards of several journals and has been associated with academic bodies of various universities.On assuming office, he thanked vice-chancellor Prof Poonam Tandon and pledged to strengthen faculty development, research excellence and effective implementation of the National Education Policy-2020.
