Panaji: The Bombay high court on Monday directed details of deceased employees of Birch by Romeo Lane to be placed before it, to decide on compensation to their families.The high court directed amicus curiae Rohit Bras de Sa to submit details of all the deceased employees who perished in the Dec 2025 fire, along with their ages, details of their dependents, their designation, and type of employment, to determine the compensation to be paid to their families.The court also asked the Goa state legal services authority to appoint an advocate under free legal aid to represent the victims’ families in the case before the high court.The court, in Dec, registered a suo motu PIL in the wake of the fire that killed 25 persons at the Arpora nightclub. The high court is looking into the larger issue of commercial establishments being run from illegal structures in the state.The court has asked coastal panchayats and municipalities to submit details of construction licences, occupancy certificates, and trade licences issued to commercial establishments to check whether any illegal commercial establishments are operating.
