Kolkata: Southwest monsoon advanced further into the remaining parts of Bengal, westcentral Bay of Bengal, some more parts of Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar on Monday, said a bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre. Conditions are favourable for more advancement of monsoon currents into these states over the next four-five days. Meanwhile, Kolkata remained warm and humid and recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2°C. It is likely to hover around the 35°C mark on Tuesday. “There is yet no rain-triggering system in the region, so the humidity and heat will continue,” said weather scientist Sourish Bandyopadhyay.North Bengal will continue to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers over the next three-four days. One or two places in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar may receive thunderstorms this week, said the bulletin.
