Cops rescue infant from trafficking

Hyderabad: In a case of trading a 12-day-old infant, Kulsumpura police on Wednesday registered a case against five persons, including the baby’s parents. The baby boy was rescued from a couple who bought the infant.Kulsumpura police said that on May 29, an infant boy was born to a couple Mohan and Sandhya. The infant was allegedly born with a disability. Subsequently, Mohan approached his distant relative Padma, a resident of Jiyaguda, with an intention to sell the baby.Padma connnected the biological parents to Madhusudhan and Meena, a childless couple. The agreement was made to pay ₹1.70 lakh by Madhusudhan to Padma. “This entire transaction and transfer of the child were carried out illegally, without following any legal procedures prescribed for adoption under the law,’’ police said.After the women and child welfare department came to know about the illegal trade, a complaint was given to Kulsumpura police by the child protection officer. The baby was rescued and sent to Sishu Vihar by the Child Welfare Committee. Kulsumpura police registered a zero FIR and the case will be transferred to Nandigama.
