Gurgaon businessman alleges deadly assault, death threats; FIR names politician Naveen Goyal and two others

GURGAON: A local businessman has accused three men, including businessman-turned-politician Naveen Goyal, of orchestrating a violent assault on him through hired attackers and issuing death threats to force him to shut down his factory, according to an FIR registered at Sector-10 police station.Naveen Goyal had contested the 2024 Gurgaon assembly elections as an Independent candidate after rebelling against the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) as the saffron party did not alot him the party ticket.The FIR, registered on May 2 under Sections 115, 333, 324(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), is based on a complaint filed by Praveen Aggarwal, a resident of Sector 14, who runs a business named PRK Scaffolding at Saraswati Enclave, J-Block, Pataudi Road, opposite Boxer Petrol Pump in Village Gadoli Khurd.According to the complaint, the alleged attack took place on April 20 between approximately 6.30pm and 7pm when Aggarwal was returning home from his factory. He stated that as he reached near Shankar Murti in the lane opposite Boxer Petrol Pump on Pataudi Road, an unidentified biker intentionally rammed his motorcycle into the rear portion of his car.Aggarwal alleged that when he lowered the window of his vehicle to understand what had happened, the biker immediately began hurling obscene abuses at him. Before he could react, several unidentified men allegedly surrounded his vehicle. The complainant claimed that one or two of the attackers were carrying sticks.The FIR states that the men allegedly dragged him out and assaulted him with kicks, punches and sticks. Aggarwal alleged that the attack was so brutal that he fell to the ground while pleading for mercy and reminding the attackers about his children.According to the complaint, one of the assailants allegedly threatened him, saying: “Shut down your factory and apologise to Naveen Goyal, Deepak Goyal and Satish Tayal, otherwise you will be killed within five days. This is just a warning.”Aggarwal further alleged that another attacker told him during the assault that the same group had earlier orchestrated an attack on one of his employees around three months ago, but he had failed to understand the warning at that time.The complainant also accused the attackers of deliberately smashing his mobile phone during the assault, causing financial loss in addition to physical injuries.In his complaint, Aggarwal alleged that the entire incident was part of a planned criminal conspiracy aimed at shutting down his business operations. He specifically named Naveen Goyal, Deepak Goyal and Satish Tayal as the persons behind the alleged attack.Aggarwal told police that he suffered severe physical and mental trauma in the incident. He stated in the complaint that visible injury marks remained on his body and that he had been forced to make repeated hospital visits for treatment following the assault.The complainant expressed apprehension regarding the safety of his family and alleged that he continued to face a serious threat to his life from the accused persons.The FIR was registered on May 2 at Sector-10 police station, nearly 12 days after the alleged incident.According to the police, the complaint had initially been received on April 22. During the preliminary inquiry, investigators examined CCTV footage from the spot.Police noted in the FIR that while the complainant had alleged the accused persons were armed during the attack, no evidence supporting the presence of weapons was found in the CCTV footage examined during the inquiry.The police note further stated that if any evidence regarding the accused being armed emerges during the course of investigation, action would be taken accordingly as per law.The investigation has been handed over to ASI Devender of Sector-10 police station. Police have not announced any arrests in the case so far citing that Naveen Goyal was not in the city on the day of the incident.Meanwhile calls and messages to Naveen Goyal went unanswered.
