Ahmedabad: Burglars steal Rs 13.6L from Chandkheda house

Ahmedabad: A theft of Rs 13.6 lakh was reported from a house in Chandkheda after unknown burglars broke into the residence and fled with gold, silver ornaments and cash while the family was away at their native village.According to the complaint lodged by Ramesh Rabari, 42, the theft occurred between 6pm on Thursday and 8am on Friday. Rabari works as a supervisor with a private firm on Ashram Road and lives with his wife and two children.The complainant stated that he and his family travelled to their native village in Patan district on the evening of Thursday. On Friday morning, a neighbour informed him over the phone that the latch of the iron entrance door of his house appeared broken when a tenant came to place ceremonial earthen pots on the upper floor, the complainant stated.When the family returned home, they found the main iron door damaged. The lock on the wooden kitchen door was also broken. Household items were scattered inside, and both iron safes kept in the bedroom were found with broken locks and lockers.The complainant stated that the burglars stole necklaces, mangalsutra, earrings, rings, chains, bracelets, and pendants, along with silver ornaments and coins. Rs 1.10 lakh cash was also missing.
