Ramadoss welcomes ban on liquor sale to people under 21

VILLUPURAM: PMK founder S Ramadoss has welcomed the govt’s directive prohibiting the sale of liquor to individuals under the age of 21.In a statement, Ramadoss praised the initial steps taken by the new administration and emphasised that strict enforcement is crucial to prevent these rules from becoming mere “paper decrees.Lauding chief minister C Joseph Vijay for the swift order to close 717 Tasmac liquor shops located near bus stands, places of worship and schools, he raised an alarm regarding reports that local officials in some areas are attempting to relocate these closed shops rather than shutting them down permanently.“In the past, govts closed shops near highways or schools only to reopen them just a few metres away by reclassifying roads,” he said. “This must not happen now. For this to be a true step toward total prohibition, these shops must remain closed forever,” he said.
