Panaji: At the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII results declared on Wednesday, Goa students registered a pass percentage of 96.4%. From 12 CBSE higher secondary schools in the state, 800 students — 405 boys and 395 girls — appeared for the examinations across nine centres.Of these 771 — 388 boys and 383 girls — cleared the exam, recording a pass percentage of 95.8% for male students and 96.9% for female students in Goa, as per the data released by the CBSE.The data shows that the highest number of 342 students in Goa answered the CBSE Class XII exams through independent schools affiliated to the board. Of these 315 cleared the exam, giving a pass percentage of 92.1%.The second highest number of students appeared for the CBSE exams in Goa from the Kendriya Vidyalaya schools at 263, with all clearing the exams, leading to a 100% pass percentage.Similarly, the two district Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya saw 85 students appearing for the Class XII CBSE exams from Goa, all of them passed the exams, recording 100% results. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya are residential schools established one in each district under a central govt-funded scheme to cater especially to children from economically weaker sections. Goa has one JNV each in Valpoi and Canacona.Another 108 students appeared for the exams from the state from govt-run schools this year, all of them cleared the exams and gave a 100% result.From Goa, 621 general category students answered the Class XII CBSE exams this year, 114 under OBC category, 47 under SC category, and 18 under ST category, as per the board’s data.Goa is classified under the Pune region by the CBSE and the overall pass percentage for Pune region was 87.3%. Over 22,000 students appeared for the CBSE Class XII exam in the Pune region this year, and Goa had a higher pass percentage than the regional percentage.
