Premallatha seeks live telecast of full assembly session

Chennai: DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakant on Tuesday urged that the entire assembly proceedings should be telecast live. Meanwhile, PMK legislative party leader Sowmiya Anbumani requested the speaker to allot more time for her party MLAs.Making her maiden speech in the assembly after the election of speaker J C D Prabhakar, Premallatha said all parties should be treated impartially when it comes to telecasting the speeches live. “The speeches of all MLAs should be covered and not just the members of ruling party. The entire assembly proceedings should be telecast live,” Premallatha said. Similar demand was also placed by KMDK MLA from Pollachi K Nityanandan. However, Sowmiya in her debut speech demanded more time to speak for her party MLAs. “We are certain that the assembly would be conducted in a democratic manner. The speaker should give more chance and time for our party MLAs,” Sowmiya said. Similar demand was placed by Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi (MJK) MLA M Thamimun Ansari who demanded more opportunities to speak for members of smaller parties. “The speaker shouldn’t differentiate between smaller and larger parties. Equal opportunity should be given to all political parties,” Ansari said. VCK MLA Vanniarasu and CPI MLA T Ramachandran insisted that the speaker should allow opposition MLAs to express their views. “The house should function by respecting the sentiments of opposition parties. The voice of VCK shouldn’t be suppressed,” Vanniarasu said. Ramachandran appreciated chief minister C Joseph Vijay for meeting leaders of major political parties. “After former chief minister C N Annadurai who visited former CM K Kamaraj, it was only Vijay who had visited the house of an outgoing chief minister,” Ramachandran said.
