Gurgaon: Employees of a private pharmaceutical company allegedly embezzled around Rs 1.5 crore through fake billing, stock manipulation and fraudulent sale of goods. A complaint was registered against them in Oct 2025. Eight months on, the Economic Offences Branch has arrested a former HR manager, Santosh Giri (39) from Faridabad on Tuesday.Police said the case came to light after a representative of IB Pharma Pvt Ltd filed a complaint at DLF Sector 29 police station on Oct 17, 2025, alleging that certain employees and managers in the billing and purchase departments were siphoning off funds by generating fake invoices, tampering with stock records and making fraudulent entries in the company’s computer systems.Police registered a case and the investigation was handed over to the Economic Offences Branch.After his arrest, Giri told the police that he worked with the company between 2016 and 2024. During his tenure, he allegedly conspired with associates to create fake medicine bills, manipulate stock levels and sell goods in the retail market.Police spokesperson Sandeep Turan said, “Giri played a key role in facilitating the fraud, which caused losses of approximately Rs 1.5 crore to the company.” An investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved in the scam and trace the embezzled funds. “Many other employees are under the radar and their roles are being probed. There is a possibility of other senior employees in the company also being involved in the crime,” an investigator said.
