Jathedar takes cognisance of thrashing of Sikh father, son

Amritsar: The officiating jathedar of the Akal Takht, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, has taken serious note of the alleged assault on a Sikh father and son in Machhiwara Sahib and directed the Khanna police to act within 24 hours.The incident reportedly involves a retired Army personnel, Kuldeep Singh, and his 16-year-old son, Sumanpreet Singh, who were allegedly assaulted by municipal council employees on the night of May 4. According to reports, Kuldeep Singh, a farmer who sells vegetables using a tractor-trolley, was confronted by officials attempting to remove his vehicle. When he objected, his goods were allegedly seized, following which both father and son were beaten.Taking cognisance, the jathedar has directed the police to identify the accused, register an FIR and initiate strict legal action within 24 hours.Kuldeep is said to have sustained serious head injuries affecting his hearing and vision. The jathedar has also flagged alleged harassment of local farmers and demanded immediate justice.
