Chandigarh: In a direct attack on chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday launched the third phase of its statewide ‘Vote Bachao-Desh Bachao Chaupal’ campaign from Saini’s ancestral Mangoli Jather village in the Ladwa assembly constituency. The launch sets off a three-week ground mobilisation (Nov 3 to 25) across Haryana, intended to take the party’s narrative on electoral integrity and constitutional rights down to every polling booth.By targeting the CM’s home constituency in the GT Road belt, the Congress sought to deliver a direct political statement even as Saini was away on election duty in Punjab.Addressing a gathering at Mangoli Jather, senior Haryana Congress functionaries framed the campaign around key questions regarding constitutional institutions and the electoral process.AICC in charge for Haryana, Sanjay Dutt, questioned the central govt’s decision to alter the committee for selecting Election Commissioners by replacing the Chief Justice of India with a cabinet minister and granting post-tenure legal immunity to election officials under the 2023 EC Act.Former Ladwa MLA Chaudhary Mewa Singh, Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda, and Haryana Congress president Rao Narender Singh also addressed the gathering. They called for a transparent investigation into alleged voter roll deletions and irregularities during the 2024 elections. The Congress also announced the formation of specialised ‘Vote Rakshak’ teams at the booth level. These dedicated task forces are assigned to audit voter lists, assist citizens with wrongful deletions, and conduct village-level chaupal discussions on constitutional protections under Article 326, the party said. The statewide campaign will cover all districts and polling booths through Nov 25.
