New Delhi: Police have launched a probe after a businessman claimed his wife took their two-year-old son to Australia from west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar without his consent. He also alleged his passport was stolen and his signature forged on documents related to the child’s Australian visa application. In a complaint to police, Damanjeet Singh, a resident of Greater Noida, said his wife left for her parent’s house in Tilak Nagar on June 8 to meet her father, who had come from Australia. She took their son along and told him that “they would be back in a few days”.The woman, as per the complainant, then extended her stay by “giving excuses” over phone calls and messages for almost two weeks, before blocking her husband’s number and social media accounts. Singh then sent a letter to his wife which came back undelivered.“Out of concern for my son, I went to her house in Tilak Nagar and found that tenants were living in the flat. Her relatives then told me that my wife and her father, along with my son, had left for Australia. My wife obtained a visa by forging my signature on the form. She further facilitated the process by stealing my passport,” Singh alleged in his complaint, adding, “She snatched my right as a father, and I yearn for my child.”An FIR has been registered under BNS sections relating to forgery, kidnapping and forging documents or electronic records and using it as genuine.
