Chandigarh: Prof Ashok Kumar has been appointed the new medical superintendent (MS) at PGI. Official orders to the effect were issued by the PGI director on Saturday. Prof Kumar, the senior-most professor in the department of hospital administration, will now hold a dual responsibility. In addition to his new role as medical superintendent, he continues to serve as head of the department of hospital administration, a position he was assigned days prior on April 30. Prof Kumar will take charge with immediate effect. The appointment follows the retirement of Dr Vipin Kaushal, who stepped down as MS after a career spanning over three decades at PGI.
