Ambala: Haryana energy, transport and labour minister Anil Vij on Thursday accused political parties of turning “non-issues” into controversies to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus, while reacting sharply to Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s proposed Swabhiman Yatra from Ujjain to Ayodhya over the alleged theft of donations collected for the Ram temple.Vij said parties that had “no issues, no public trust and have already been rejected by the people” repeatedly tried to create controversies out of non-issues.He said action was already being taken in the Ram temple donation case and a new committee had also been constituted. However, he alleged that the Congress was seeking a “certificate” to establish itself as anti-Hindu by raising the issue.“Cases of theft take place at many other places as well. Why don’t they take out yatras there? Is it because thieves are allowed there?” Vij asked, alleging that the issue was being highlighted only because it was connected with Hindu faith.Vij was speaking to the media in Ambala.Reacting to Arvind Kejriwal’s re-election as the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Vij also launched a sharp attack on the former Delhi chief minister.Vij alleged that AAP was founded on the back of the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare. He said there had been no agenda in Hazare’s movement to form a political party and alleged that AAP used the public support generated by the movement to launch itself politically. He further alleged that the party subsequently engaged in the very activities against which its leaders had campaigned during the movement.“Several of their leaders are facing corruption allegations today. There can be no one better than Kejriwal to carry forward such activities,” Vij said, taking a jibe at the AAP leadership.Ends
