For Kannada actor Rachana Inder, green is more than just a colour. It brings back memories of growing up in Coorg, surrounded by nature, and reminds her of the family and places that have shaped her. Even today, the sight of trees and greenery offers her a sense of calm, making the colour particularly meaningful during Navaratri.“My fondest Navaratri memories are of travelling with my family to Madikeri and Mysuru, where the celebrations were always grand. Mysuru Dasara was something I especially looked forward to. Since we are now settled in Bengaluru, these trips were also a chance for us to spend time together as a family, away from our usual routines. It felt like a vacation for us, too,” she recalls.‘The strength of Goddess Shakti inspires me’When it comes to Goddess Shakti, it is her strength and ability to face every circumstance that resonate most with Rachana. “I find the symbolism of Shiva and Shakti very meaningful, especially the power of the feminine. The strength that the Goddess has is what inspires me. She shines through whatever circumstances come her way, and that is something I really admire. My parents made sure that I grew up as a devotional person, and I am still the same person I was as a child when it comes to faith,” she shares.‘Green brings me a sense of calm’Beyond its association with freshness and new beginnings, green holds deeply personal significance for Rachana. Growing up, she and her brother were part of the green house team at their school, making it a reminder of childhood and family. But it is her connection to nature that makes the colour especially dear to her. “Having grown up in Coorg, I have always been close to nature, so it makes me sad when I see trees being cut down or buildings coming up without enough thought given to greenery. I wish people would consider having more plants and green spaces around them while constructing buildings. Green is one of my favourite colours because it brings me peace and reminds me of home. It gives me a sense of calm and fills me with positive energy,” says Rachana.
