Demand raised for Punjabi’s official status in J&K
Union seeks Pbi’s inclusion in J&K

Ludhiana: Anndata Kisan Union, Punjab, has urged the Centre to include Punjabi among the official languages of Jammu and Kashmir. In a memorandum submitted to the deputy commissioner, the union said Punjabi enjoyed official language status under the erstwhile J&K Constitution but was excluded from the Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Act, 2020. The union also backed the ongoing sit-in by Punjabi-speaking groups in Jammu and warned of a larger agitation if the demand remains unmet. TNN
