Bundi MLA slams state govt over Bhadana’s murder

Kota: Congress MLA from Bundi, Harimohan Sharma, expressing concern over Attar Singh Bhadana’s killing, attacked the state govt for failing to protect its own former MLA.Speaking to TOI in his hometown of Bundi Tuesday, the former minister pointed to severe lapses in governance and law enforcement and questioned how the administration expected to safeguard ordinary citizens when even former legislators remained vulnerable in their own home districts.Bhadana was fatally assaulted amid a long-standing local dispute involving land and a crusher plant. According to Sharma, police and administrative authorities knew about plans to set up a crusher plant and dust powder manufacturing unit across a disputed lease area spanning roughly 300 to 400 hectares. Despite multiple previous civil disputes, court orders and administrative directives involving various parties, the local authorities failed to act decisively, Sharma said.Drawing attention to legal provisions (Section 164 BNSS, formerly Section 145), Sharma pointed out that administrative and police authorities had absolute authority to seize disputed properties and neutralise brewing violent clashes between parties. Instead of taking action, they remained mute spectators. He said Bhadana had formally lodged a police complaint some time ago, saying that his life was under threat from a local group and opposing faction. Despite these warnings, the police failed to take preventive steps, he said.Sharma concluded that such tragic failures encourage vengeance and insecurity among political figures and the public alike, making swift justice essential.
