New Delhi: Lawyers wore black ribbons Monday as a mark of solidarity with advocates allegedly manhandled by police during the Oct 10 protests. The move came after Delhi High Court Bar Association urged its members to wear black ribbons to register their protest against what it described as the “excessive and disproportionate use of force” by police against members of the legal fraternity. The association said the move was in continuation of its Oct 10 resolution, which condemned the alleged illegal detention of lawyers and the use of excessive force during peaceful protests.Meanwhile, a group of lawyers assembled on the HC lawns and read out the preamble of the Constitution as a signal of solidarity with the protesters.
