Gurgaon: A man allegedly pushed his wife to death from the second-floor balcony of their rented house in Acharya Puri on Thursday after a dispute over a Rs 2,000 transfer to his mother.Pallavi Yadav (30), an MBA graduate who worked as a manager at a private company, suffered a severe head injury and died during treatment at a hospital in Meerut. Her husband, Dharmendra alias Akash (30), was arrested from Meerut on Friday and remanded in two days’ police custody on Saturday.The couple, both from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, had married in Dec 2024 and worked at different private companies in Gurgaon. Police sources said the argument began after Pallavi learnt that Dharmendra had transferred Rs 2,000 to his mother. The disagreement escalated, prompting their landlord to intervene and ask them to stop quarrelling. Police suspect Dharmendra was drunk at the time.Despite the intervention, the dispute allegedly ended in violence. Around 1am on Thursday, Dharmendra allegedly pushed Pallavi from the second-floor balcony, leaving her seriously injured.She was first taken to Civil Hospital and then to Artemis Hospital in the city for treatment. As her condition remained critical, she was shifted to a hospital in Meerut, where she later died.The Sector 14 police station received information about the incident on Thursday itself. A team reached the hospital but learnt that Pallavi had been shifted to Meerut. Her mother subsequently lodged a complaint alleging that Dharmendra had assaulted her during an argument before pushing her from the balcony.A murder case was registered at Sector 14 police station and Dharmendra was arrested from Meerut on Friday. He was produced before a court the next day and remanded to police custody for questioning. Police are trying to establish the exact sequence of events leading to Pallavi’s death.“The couple had frequent fights and arguments, and the family was aware of it. The victim was an MBA graduate, while the accused had studied up to Class 12,” a police officer said.
