Hyderabad: BRS working president and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao on Sunday urged chief minister A Revanth Reddy to expedite construction of the permanent campus of JNTU Engineering College in Rajanna Sircilla district and allow it to continue at its present premises until the new campus is ready.KTR said the campus was sanctioned in 2021 with administrative approval of Rs 402 crore, but construction was yet to begin despite 20 acres being allotted at Mandepalli village. The college is currently functioning temporarily on the premises of a degree college at Agraharam, he said.He said proposals to shift the engineering college to another private building could cause inconvenience to students, faculty and staff. He said existing classrooms, laboratories and other infrastructure should not be left unused.KTR urged the state govt to release the required funds for the permanent campus and speed up construction at Mandepalli. He also asked the chief minister to direct officials not to issue notices asking the college to vacate its present premises until suitable alternative arrangements were made. The college plays an important role in providing technical education to students from Rajanna Sircilla district and neighbouring areas, KTR said, urging the chief minister to intervene immediately in the interest of students.
