Chandigarh: The Chandigarh municipal corporation earned ₹1.7 crore in revenue through its unified “One Pass” parking system between its launch in late Jan 2026 and Sept 2026.According to the civic body’s records, the civic body issued 16,022 monthly passes for four-wheelers and 8,467 for two-wheelers during this eight-month period. Four-wheelers accounted for the bulk of earnings at ₹1.4 crore, while two-wheeler passes generated ₹26.9 lakh.Commuters overwhelmingly preferred monthly passes over long-term plans. For four-wheelers, the corporation issued 2,847 quarterly, 723 half-yearly, and 402 yearly passes. In the two-wheeler category, officials issued 714 quarterly, 105 half-yearly, and 15 yearly passes.Digital processing of online pass applications has streamlined issuance for commuters while helping the civic body build a organised parking database.Although pass sales witnessed a dip after April following an initial post-launch surge, monthly demand has stabilised, with the MC continuing to issue over 1,200 four-wheeler and around 900 two-wheeler passes every month.Explaining the trend, civic body sources said, “Though the commuters are taking the passes regularly, but those who don’t have to use the paid parking passes regularly are avoiding to get them issued. Instead, they ay for parking slip only for those days when they have to park. Initially, people were quite enthusiastic to see this new system and thus many people opted for this monthly pass under one pass system but later avoided.”
