Surat: Two deputy mamlatdars were killed and a health worker survived after the car they were travelling in plunged into a river in Dang district on Saturday.The deceased are Sandip Damor and Shailesh Garashiya, both deputy mamlatdars. The health worker who survived was identified as Sonu Bariya.According to information available, the accident occurred at Daddha Crossing near Pavdi village. The car was on a hilly forest road which has many turns that require careful driving. The car crashed through the roadside railing and plunged into the Khapri river, falling around 35 feet.Damor had recently been transferred to Gandhinagar and had come to collect his belongings.Local residents and authorities rushed to the spot after the accident was reported. Efforts were initiated to retrieve the occupants and vehicle from the riverbed. Damor and Garashiya were declared dead, while Bariya survived the crash.After recovering the bodies, the car was pulled out using a crane. Police have started an investigation to find out how the car fell into the river.
