Hisar: A workshop worker died and another was critically injured on Thursday when a car being reversed during routine servicing allegedly ran over them at a service centre near Satrod village on Delhi Road.The victims were identified as Vivek, a resident of Anipura village in Hansi, and Rajpal, a resident of Dhansu village. Both were rushed to a private hospital in Hisar in critical condition, where Vivek later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.Urban Estate police station personnel reached the workshop immediately after being alerted to the incident and launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.The vehicle involved, a hatchback, belongs to Hisar-based advocate Ashish Dhingra, who had brought the car for servicing around 10.30 am along with his three-year-old daughter.Describing the incident, Dhingra stated he was seated in the customer waiting lounge when he saw a workshop employee reversing his car at high speed. “I thought he might be checking the brakes,” he said, adding that he heard a loud bang shortly after and saw the car crash into a wall.Dhingra said workshop staff initially restricted him from entering the service bay, but he later learnt two workers had been struck by his vehicle.After speaking with the workshop owner, Dhingra reported the matter to the police, recorded his statement, and handed over the vehicle’s service job card to assist the probe.Police officers are currently scanning CCTV footage from the premises and analysing technical evidence to determine how the car was operated and fix responsibility for the fatal mishap.
