CHANDIGARH: A 50-year -old Assistant Sub Inspector Satpal Singh posted in the crime branch of Chandigarh police, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his government house in Sector-42 on Tuesday night. No suicide note was recovered from the crime scene, cops said.The deceased Satpal Singh was looking after the work of malkhana munshi in the crime branch. He had returned home on Tuesday afternoon after finishing shift. At that time, he was alone at home, while other family members had gone out to attend a wedding ceremony.In the late evening, when family members called Satpal Singh, he did not answer the phone. After this, the family called neighbors and asked them to go to the house and check.The neighbors tried to open the door of the house, but the door did not open because it was latched from inside. On this , neighbours informed the police control room at 112 .After receiving information, the police reached the spot. When the police broke open the door and entered, Satpal Singh was found hanging from a noose in the room.Police personnel brought him down and immediately took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead after examination. The police have informed the family about the incident. The body has been kept in the mortuary for autopsy at GMSH-16. After the postmortem, the body will be handed over to the family on Wednesday.
