Shimla: Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday announced Rs 2 crore for the construction of a new building at PM Shri Govt Model Senior Secondary School in Rohru, Shimla.The move came after a girl student urged the chief minister to sanction a new building, saying enrolment had risen since the school’s transition to the CBSE curriculum and classes were being held in two shifts.Interacting with students at the school, Sukhu said the govt would provide additional funds if required to complete the building and reiterated the govt’s commitment to developing modern campuses with better facilities in govt CBSE schools across the state.Sukhu highlighted that the state govt was giving special attention to opening govt CBSE schools to provide students in rural areas access to quality education and modern facilities.On employment opportunities, he said quality education develops students’ ability to think, understand, and make informed choices. The govt, he said, was working to create jobs in the govt sector while promoting self-employment among youth.
