Shillong: Meghalaya govt has taken serious note of VPP MDC Juristman Iawphniaw allegedly disrupting interviews for contractual staff nurse posts at Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills district on Tuesday.Deputy CM in charge of home (police) Prestone Tynsong warned that the law would take its course, saying no one, “whether MLA, MDC or MP”, had the right to disrupt an ongoing interview on the basis of allegations.“Since an allegation has been made, verification and investigation is on. Once that is done, action will be taken accordingly,” Tynsong said.The incident occurred at the DC’s office in Nongstoin while interviews for contractual staff nurse posts at Maternal and Child Health Hospital were under way.According to the district administration, Iawphniaw entered the venue without prior permission and raised allegations about the recruitment process. He allegedly raised his voice at members of the interview board in the presence of candidates, disrupting the proceedings and causing distress to candidates and board members.The MDC was later escorted to the chamber of deputy commissioner Hema Nayak, where he made verbal allegations concerning the recruitment process.The administration said the incident was being examined and that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law.Sixty candidates had been shortlisted for personal interviews scheduled for Sept 29 and 30 before a duly constituted interview board.The VPP State Youth Wing urged the director of health services on Monday to defer the interviews, pending an inquiry into allegations that money was being sought in exchange for staff nurse appointments.Nayak said the selection would be based strictly on merit through a written examination and personal interview. She clarified that no payment was required at any stage and reiterated that the recruitment would be completed in a “fair, transparent and time bound manner”.
