Lucknow: Two youths posing as prospective tenants robbed an RTO inspector’s wife of her gold chain in Jankipuram on Wednesday afternoon, using a seemingly routine enquiry about a rental house to get close to her before fleeing with the jewellery.The incident took place on Sept 23 when Shashi Singh, wife of RTO inspector Dhairendra Singh and a resident of Sita Vihar Colony, was allegedly approached by the two youths. According to the complaint, the duo asked about a house available for rent and, during the interaction, allegedly snatched the gold chain from her neck before escaping.“An FIR has been registered at Jankipuram police station on the basis of the written complaint. Police have formed a team to identify and arrest the suspects,” officials said.“Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area and collecting other evidence to establish the movements and identities of the accused,” police said, adding that efforts were underway to trace the suspects.
