Gurgaon: A dispute between two groups of students at IILM University in Sector 53 escalated into a clash at the campus gate on Thursday, with members of both groups allegedly attacking each other. Police detained six students involved and recommended that the university take action against them.Police said there was a disagreement between senior and junior students a few days earlier, which was temporarily settled. The issue resurfaced on Thursday when one group allegedly attacked students from the other, prompting them to retaliate.The clash was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the university gate. The footage shows some youths arriving outside the campus in a Thar and assaulting a student. Their associates then join the confrontation, leading to a fight between the two groups. Several students gather at the spot as the clash continues.A team from Sector 53 police station reached the campus after receiving information about the clash and took preventive action based on a complaint. Police took six students into custody and began investigating the circumstances leading to the fight.SHO Sector 53 Narender said, “It was learnt that there was a dispute between the two groups. First, one of the groups hit the other, and the second group then launched an attack on the former as part of revenge.”According to sources, the students involved are pursuing bachelor’s courses in psychology at the university.Police also wrote to the university administration, recommending action against the students involved. Investigators are examining the CCTV footage and other evidence to establish the sequence of events and identify those who participated in the clash.The university has identified six students from the two groups and formed a five-member committee to investigate the incident, the SHO said. The management has also initiated the process of suspending the students involved.Further action will be taken based on the findings of the police investigation and the university committee.
