Noida: An FIR was registered against two persons after the car they were travelling in crashed into a drain in Sector 24, where a man was later found dead. Police are probing whether the victim died after being hit by the car.The sequence of events remains unclear because there were few witnesses when the accident occurred around 3am on Saturday. Police said Aman alias Armaan and Aniket were travelling from Sector 49 towards Sector 12-22 when the car allegedly went out of control near the underpass close to Wave City Mall. The vehicle, travelling at around 100 kmph, jumped several feet, overturned and landed over the drain.Police suspect the man, who was near the spot, may have been struck during the crash and fallen into the drain. He suffered multiple injuries and was found dead there. The cops, however, are yet to establish whether the injuries were caused by the car or whether he died under other circumstances.“The autopsy report mentions multiple injuries and indicates that they were sustained before his death,” an officer said. The victim’s identity has not yet been established. Police are checking records at nearby stations and circulating his details on social media to trace his family.The crash was severe enough to deploy the car’s airbags. Aman and Aniket suffered minor injuries, got out of the vehicle and fled, leaving the damaged car behind. Residents spotted it the next morning and alerted police. A crane was used to remove the vehicle.The car belonged to Shiva, who lives in the same building as the accused at Baraula. Police later traced the vehicle to its owner and identified the occupants.An FIR was registered on a complaint by Morna police post in-charge Ajit Singh. Police identified Aman and Aniket as residents of Bulandshahr now living in rented accommodation in Baraula. Aniket works in the sanitation department of Noida Authority, while Aman is a gym trainer.Some residents alleged the duo were drunk, but police said there was no official confirmation yet. Armaan was driving the car and Aniket was beside him.Police are now examining forensic evidence and other available material to establish the car’s actual speed, reconstruct the crash and determine whether the man was hit by the vehicle.
