Mumbai: A couple from Andheri (E) have taken leave from their jobs and are searching for their 65-year-old mother, who has dementia and has been missing since Friday afternoon. Sahar police registered an FIR of abduction against an unidentified person and are collecting information from police stations and examining closed-circuit television footage from Indira Nagar and the route Jhupibai Singh may have taken. She first left at 8 am and returned at 1 pm after her elder son’s daughter-in-law tracked her down and brought her home. However, she left again minutes later.Singh, a driver at a five-star hotel, and his wife Jankibai, a house help, have been searching for his mother since Friday afternoon. They returned from work after their children called to say their grandmother had left home and could not be found in the locality. “My mother is fighting a memory loss problem. My wife and I have taken leave for the last three days at work and have been searching for her. I doubt that she has a problem in her leg and may have lost her way and may be sitting at some place,” Singh told TOI.The Singh couple have searched Andheri, Asalpha, Sakinaka, Powai and Seepz since Friday afternoon for their mother, who has been missing after leaving home. Singh said his mother had suffered memory loss for two to three months and often tried to leave, saying the house was not hers and that she wanted to return to her own house. “She initially left on Friday morning while Singh’s children were asleep after visiting Ganpati the previous night. My brother’s wife tracked her down, and she was dropped off at 1pm. However, she left again and has remained missing,” said Singh. He said she had similarly left on Sept 5 and was found in Sakinaka after an 18-hour search.Meanwhile, Bandra police and Bandra couple are still searching for their “so-called” or “adopted” uncle, Ramnarayan Chaudhary (76), who went missing on Sept 15. Chaudhary left his home in JJ Colony, Bandra (W), for an evening walk at 5.30 pm but has not returned to date.
