Guwahati: Dipjyoti Patgiri, a researcher from Bajali in Assam, has secured a research opportunity at Nasa’s Goddard Space Flight Centre, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday.Sarma called the achievement a matter of joy and pride for Assam. “This is wonderful news. I received a report that Bajali’s brilliant son, Dr Dipjyoti Patgiri, has secured a research opportunity at the world-renowned Nasa Goddard Space Flight Center. This glorious achievement is truly a matter of joy and pride for the entire population of Assam,” Sarma wrote in a social media post.CM said Patgiri began his education at an Assamese-medium school and through his merit, perseverance and dedication, he had proved that the medium of instruction could not be an obstacle to achieving one’s dreams.“Heartiest congratulations to Dr Dipjyoti Patgiri and best wishes for a bright future. May this success of his inspire the youth of Assam to dream new dreams in the fields of science and research. I pray that he illuminates the name of Assam even further on the global stage of science,” Sarma added.Responding to CM’s post, Patgiri said that this affection and encouragement will always remain a source of inspiration for him. “I hope that in the coming days, I will be able to make some contributions to Assam in the field of science,” he said.
