Delhi cop suspended for killing delivery executive in Jaffarpur Kalan

New Delhi: Delhi Police has suspended head constable Neeraj Balhara for allegedly shooting dead a delivery executive in southwest Delhi’s Jaffarpur Kalan, after purportedly calling him a “Bihari”. Police sources said an inquiry has been initiated against the officer.Meanwhile, Bihar govt provided financial assistance, with the chief minister announcing an ex gratia compensation of Rs 8 lakh to the deceased’s family.In a post, Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary wrote, “The unfortunate incident in Dwarka, Delhi, resulting in the death of Pandav Kumar, a laborer from Khagaria, is extremely heartbreaking. My deepest condolences to his grieving family. The administration is committed to taking fair action. We are making every effort to support the affected family during this difficult time. Instructions have been issued to provide Rs 8 lakh in ex-gratia assistance to the deceased’s dependents.On Wednesday a delegation including MPs Manoj Tiwari, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, MLAs Pawan Sharma and Chandan Chaudhary and others met the family. After meeting the family, Tiwari said the Purvanchal community is a vital pillar of Delhi’s economy and society, and any discrimination against hardworking migrant families from Bihar, Jharkhand, or eastern Uttar Pradesh will not be tolerated.Kumar’s family, originally from Khagaria, said they were firm in their demand for strict punishment. Vikas, the 16-year-old brother of Pandav, said, “Along with the financial help, we demand strict capital punishment for the accused and justice for my brother.”
