Man who killed wife found hanging from a tree in Bengaluru

A 25-year-old private company employee, who allegedly strangled his wife to death inside a hotel room in Doddaballapur town on September 15, was found hanging from a tree near a lake in his hometown of Gauribidanur.The deceased, G. Anand, had allegedly escaped from the hotel room after murdering his wife, Vidya, 23. The couple had been married for four years and had a two-and-a-half-year-old son, who is currently staying with Vidya’s parents in Gauribidanur.Anand’s decomposed body was spotted by passersby, who alerted the police. Police recovered the mobile phones of both Anand and Vidya from his trouser pockets, along with an empty alcohol bottle.According to family sources, the couple frequently quarrelled over domestic issues. “Vidya had distanced herself from Anand. However, he took her to a hotel room after promising that he would never fight with her again,” police said. He allegedly strangled her to death there.Helmet godown, mobile shop gutted in accidental fireMaterials stored in a helmet godown and an adjoining mobile phone shop were gutted in an accidental fire at Sudhamanagar in Wilson Garden late Friday night.Two fire tenders were deployed to the spot and brought the blaze under control within an hour. No casualties were reported, police said.A preliminary investigation by the police revealed that a short circuit inside the helmet godown may have triggered the fire.
