Woman killed, 11 injured as buses collide in Upleta

Rajkot: A woman was killed and 11 others injured after a state transport bus collided with a private bus near a hotel in Panelli village of Upleta taluka on Sunday morning, police said. The accident occurred at around 7.30am.The deceased was identified as Malti Jogi, a resident of Jamnagar. Following the accident, Manish Bharai, the driver of the private bus, lodged a complaint at Bhayavadar police station against the driver of the state transport bus under Sections 106(1), 281 and 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA).Eleven passengers travelling in the state transport bus from Amreli, Lalpur, Jamnagar, Jamvadi, Moti Gop and Jamjodhpur, among other places, were injured in the collision. They were shifted to nearby hospitals in 108 ambulances. Malti Jogi, who had sustained serious injuries, later succumbed to her injuries during treatment.In another accident, a 45-year-old man was killed after an unidentified vehicle knocked him down near Sokhda Chowkdi on the road towards Sat Hanuman on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway.The deceased, identified as Mohansinh Atarsinh, was walking from Sokhda Chowkdi towards Sat Hanuman at around 10pm on Sunday when the vehicle hit him. He suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to Rajkot Civil Hospital, where he died during treatment.Mohansinh’s nephew Kaushlendra lodged a complaint against the unidentified driver at Kuvada Road police station under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the BNS and relevant provisions of the MVA.
