On New Year’s Eve, a car struck three students in Greater Noida, with one person being in critical condition.
On December 31st, 2022, a car crashed into three engineering students near the Alpha 2 bus stand in Greater Noida, a city in Uttar Pradesh. Two of the students were able to walk away with minor injuries, but one girl was seriously injured and is currently receiving treatment at Kailash Hospital. The hospital has assured us that they will provide full cooperation in the case. The police are currently searching for the driver of the car and have formed three teams from Beta 2 Police Station to investigate the incident. They plan to review CCTV footage to try and uncover more information about the accident.
This tragedy follows a similar incident in the national capital on New Year’s Day, in which a 20-year-old woman was killed after her scooter was hit by a car and she was dragged several kilometers under the vehicle on the city’s roads. The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter by IPS Officer Shalini Singh, who is currently the Special Commissioner of the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing.
During the investigation, the police were able to locate CCTV footage from outside a hotel where the woman, Anjali, and her friend Nidhi were seen leaving on a scooter at around 1:30 am on January 1st. Anjali was wearing a pink jacket and Nidhi was in a red jacket. According to Nidhi, after traveling a distance, Anjali decided to switch seats and ride the scooter while Nidhi sat on the back. It was at this point that the accident occurred.
Both of these incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for caution while driving, especially during times of celebration when there may be increased traffic and potential distractions. It is crucial that drivers pay attention to their surroundings and adhere to traffic laws to prevent accidents and tragedies like these from occurring. The police are working diligently to track down the responsible parties in both cases and bring them to justice. Our thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims and we hope for a speedy recovery for those who were injured.
