Rajkot: A complaint was registered at Dayapar police station against three men for allegedly pelting stones at a revenue department team during a raid on suspected illegal mineral mining in Murchban village limits of Lakhpat taluka on Sept 4.Mamlatdar Navinchandra Maru lodged the complaint against Raju Rabari, Lakhubha Jadeja and an unidentified man under the applicable sections of (BNS).According to the complaint, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Nakhatrana, Utkarsh Ujjawal called Maru around 2am on Sept 4 and informed him that illegal mineral excavation had been detected in Murchban. Ujjwal said two earth movers and other equipment had been found at the site and directed Maru to reach the spot with a team.Maru left in a govt vehicle with driver Narendra Fafal and office staffers Hitesh Bhabhor and Samat Jajani. The team reached the site around 2.30am, where Ujjawal and his driver were already present.Ujjawal asked Rabari, Jadeja and the unidentified man, who were present at the site, to produce documents related to the excavation and transportation of bentonite. The three said they had no supporting documents, became agitated and abused the officials.They then picked up loose stones and hurled them at the officialso, obstructing the govt employees from performing their duties, the complaint said.However no govt officer was injured in the attack.
