BENGALURU: A 25-year-old software engineer was killed and another person was injured after a BMW RR sports bike rammed into their Swift Dzire car near Chikkasanne Gate on NH-44 late Saturday night.The deceased has been identified as Naveen Gowda N, a resident of Neraganahalli village in Devanahalli taluk. His 26-year-old friend Avinash, who was travelling in the same car, suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.According to the complaint filed by Ashok, 29, the group of friends were returning from a dhaba near Devanahalli after a dinner party in the car that one of them, Manas Gowda, borrowed from his friend.Manas was driving the car and, around 11.50 pm, as the vehicle was taking a turn towards Chikkasanne village, the BMW RR bike came at high speed and crashed into the front-left door of the car.The impact left the car badly damaged. Naveen, who was seated beside the driver, suffered fatal injuries to his head and body, while Avinash, who was sitting in the rear seat, sustained an injury near his left eye.The biker, identified as Rakesh Chaudhary, was thrown onto the road along with the bike, and suffered injuries. The bike was also heavily damaged.Naveen and Avinash were shifted to a private hospital in Devanahalli around 12.30am where doctors declared Naveen dead.Avinash was later shifted to another hospital at Kodigehalli Junction for further treatment.A senior police officer further said, “Soon after the incident came to our notice, a team rushed to the spot. Both the vehicles were seized, and the injured were taken to hospital by then. The accused Rakesh got discharged from the hospital and is at large. We didn’t get the MLC report from any hospital about him. We have learnt that he is a resident of Rajanukunte and a native of Gurgaon, Haryana. Once apprehended, we will know if he was riding under the influence of alcohol.“A case has been registered at Devanahalli traffic police station against the bike rider for overspeeding and negligent riding, causing a death.
