Crackdown on drugs: 10 arrested

Ludhiana: As part of a crackdown on drug peddling and other anti-social activities, Khanna police registered eight cases and arrested 10 individuals. The special operation was carried out in hotspot areas identified across the district. More than 80 police personnel were deployed in each sub-division, forming multiple teams that conducted coordinated checks at 15 sensitive locations. During the operation, 84 suspects were verified and 56 vehicles inspected. Police said the operation focused on suspicious movement and known trouble spots, leading to the arrest of several accused and seizing of narcotics. Recoveries included 80 intoxicant tablets, two grams of ICE, 19.2 grams of heroin and 6 grams of intoxicant powder.The SSP said the action was part of a sustained campaign against drugs and crime. Since Jan 1, 2026, Khanna police have registered 598 cases and arrested 782 accused persons in various criminal cases, particularly those linked with drug trafficking. He added that substantial quantities of heroin, opium, cannabis, intoxicant tablets and capsules were seized during this period, along with drug money exceeding Rs 5.35 lakh.
