Surat: A man was allegedly assaulted and abducted near Shaktivijay Society at Simada Naka in Kapodra on Saturday night, with police registering a case against six persons following a complaint by his relative.According to the FIR registered at Kapodra police station, the incident occurred around 10pm. The victim, Jayanti Bhadarka, was allegedly intercepted near the entrance of the society and forcibly taken away in a grey Maruti Eeco.Jayanti’s cousin, Ramesh Bhadarka, told police that he received a phone call from a society resident informing him that Jayanti was being assaulted near the entrance. Ramesh allegedly rushed to the spot and found Jayanti being beaten inside the vehicle.The complaint alleges that Bharat Makwana and another relative were assaulting Jayanti, while Amarshi Makwana, his wife Ratanben and daughter Kanchan were seated inside the vehicle. Kanchan’s husband, Jayesh Makwana, was allegedly seated near the driver.According to the FIR, Amarshi allegedly demanded that his daughter be returned and threatened to kill Jayanti if she was not brought back. The group then allegedly drove towards the railway station.Police said the incident was linked to a relationship between Sagar Bhadarka, Jayanti’s youngest son, and Ritu, Bharat Makwana’s daughter. The FIR alleges that Sagar and Ritu entered into a live-in arrangement around four to five days before the incident, after which Sagar brought Ritu from Ahmedabad to Surat.Kapodra police booked Amarshi Makwana, Jayesh Makwana, Bharat Makwana, Ratanben Makwana, Kanchanben Makwana, Kanchanben’s husband and the driver under Sections 140(1), 140(3), 115(2), 61(2)(a) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to offences including abduction with an alleged intent to murder, voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.Kapodra inspector D K Patel said police nabbed all the accused, including the driver, within a couple of hours. He said, “We chased their car for 40 kilometres and nabbed them near Kosamba. We are investigating further”.
