Factory worker alleges kidnapping, assault

Ludhiana: A factory worker from Vijay Nagar, Mundian, has accused a group of men of kidnapping him in a car and assaulting him. He also alleged that they urinated on him. Police, however, countered the claim, saying that while he was beaten up, there was no kidnapping. In his police complaint, factory worker Suyamitra (30), a resident of Vijay Nagar, said he had gone to the house of a woman colleague to return some money he had borrowed. He claimed that her husband and cousins abducted him in a car and thrashed him. He further alleged that the accused urinated on him and later dumped him on the roadside before fleeing. ASI Gurcharan Singh, in charge of the Mundian Kalan police post, said police launched an investigation after receiving the complaint. He added that the allegations of kidnapping could not be verified. On action taken in the case, police said, “Both the accused and the victim have sought time as they are in talks for a compromise. Police will lodge an FIR if the victim proceeds with his complaint.”
