Gurgaon: A labourer was killed after a tractor hit him while he was crossing a road near Sector 60 on Thursday morning.The accused fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind, police said.According to a complaint filed by Mukesh Kumar Rai, brother-in-law of deceased Shivlal Rai — a resident of Bihar — the two were heading for work around 6.15am. As they were crossing the road near Lemon Tree Hotel, a tractor, allegedly being driven at high speed and negligently, hit Shivlal. “The impact knocked him to the ground. The driver stopped the tractor a short distance away, abandoned it and fled,” the complaint said.Mukesh moved him to the roadside and sought help from a passerby, using the person’s phone to call the police emergency number 112.“Police rushed Shivlal to a govt hospital in Sector 10 in a private ambulance. Doctors declared him dead,” a police officer said.Police sent the body to the mortuary. The tractor was identified by its registration number as HR77 6769, the officer added.Sector 65 police registered an FIR against an unidentified tractor driver under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (death by negligence) of BNS in the evening.
