GURGAON: Eight years after a pregnant woman was found murdered in a forested area of Nuh’s Padhaini village, a local court has sentenced her husband to life imprisonment for the killing.Additional sessions judge Sandeep Chauhan convicted Rajpal and awarded him life imprisonment, besides imposing a fine of Rs 50,000.If he fails to pay the fine, he will undergo another six months of simple imprisonment.According to police, Rajpal had taken his pregnant wife, Aarti, to an isolated place in the Tawadu Sadar police station area in 2018, where he attacked her with a gandasa.Her body was subsequently dumped in a forested area.The postmortem examination found five serious injuries on Aarti’s neck, police said.A case was registered after Aarti’s family members accused her in-laws of dowry-related harassment and other serious offences.Police investigated the allegations and filed the case, which subsequently went through a prolonged trial.The court’s verdict brings an end to the nearly eight-year wait for justice for Aarti’s family.
