GURGAON: Heavy rain in the city on Wednesday led to widespread waterlogging and severe traffic congestion across several key roads, delaying commuters and disrupting traffic on internal roads as well as the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.Traffic movement was badly affected at Udyog Vihar, Shankar Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Sohna Road, near the district courts, Hero Honda Chowk, Golf Course Road and MG Road as water accumulated on several stretches.The situation was particularly difficult in Udyog Vihar, where waterlogging severely affected traffic movement. The congestion also spilled over to the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway near Shankar Chowk, while traffic was impacted in the underpass leading towards Ambience Mall.The heavy rain and waterlogged roads significantly slowed down vehicles, with commuters facing delays on several important routes during the day. Traffic was also affected on connecting roads around major junctions, adding to the disruption.The condition of roads in some areas further compounded the problem. Huge potholes on the Udyog Vihar Phase 3 road made it difficult for vehicles to negotiate the waterlogged stretch. The road, which has been in a state of neglect, turned into a major trouble spot as rainwater accumulated around the potholes.A similar problem was seen on the Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road near Sector 14, where the poor condition of the road added to the difficulties faced by motorists amid the rain.With several major roads and junctions affected simultaneously, commuters faced prolonged travel times as traffic crawled through waterlogged stretches. The disruption was particularly significant on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and roads connecting key commercial and residential areas of the city.The latest spell of rain once again highlighted the city’s recurring waterlogging and road infrastructure problems, with damaged roads and potholes making traffic management more difficult during heavy rainfall.
