BHOPAL: Four people, including a Bengaluru cyber inspector and the driver, were killed and 11 others injured after a speeding sleeper bus lost control and crashed into a wall on a curved bridge on the Bhopal bypass in Biaora, Rajgarh, around 8.30am on Friday.The bus, travelling from Kanpur to Indore, was negotiating the curve on the bridge when it apparently went out of control and rammed into the wall. The impact shattered the windows of the upper sleeper section, throwing several passengers off the bridge, while some others fell onto the bridge.Four passengers, including the driver, died in the accident, while 11 others sustained injuries. Four of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.Among the deceased was a cyber inspector from Bengaluru who was travelling to Indore to apprehend an accused, police said.Soon after the accident, police and district administration teams reached the spot. With the help of local residents, passengers trapped inside the mangled bus were evacuated and taken to the Civil Hospital in Biaora. Those with serious injuries were referred to Bhopal after receiving initial treatment.Police said preliminary investigation suggested that overspeeding may have led to the accident. “The bridge has a curve, and prima facie it appears that the bus was travelling at high speed and lost control,” said an officer.Police were also working to establish the identities of all four deceased.
