Bengaluru: Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will take up road improvement works covering around 2,500km at an estimated cost of Rs 8,000 crore over the next six months, city development minister Krishna Byre Gowda said Thursday.The works will include asphalt resurfacing and white-topping, with around 250km already completed. The minister said tenders for white-topping should be awarded by Dec and directed officials to expedite the works while maintaining quality.He also ordered a survey of potholes on all arterial and sub-arterial roads using camera-mounted vehicles and directed officials to complete repairs by the end of Sept. “Once potholes on the major roads are addressed, the focus will shift to ward roads,” he said.Byre Gowda also announced monthly reviews of civic works and grievances by him, the department’s additional chief secretary and the GBA chief commissioner. Since GBA was formed, 75,152 complaints have been registered through Sahaaya 2.0, of which 73,985 have been addressed.If an issue persists, senior officers will re-audit complaints marked as resolved and will be given targets for reviewing them. Potholes, garbage and streetlights remain the major categories of grievances, he said.
