Man shot at home in Kasba Peth amid three-year-old divorce dispute

Pune: A 38-year-old man sustained bullet injuries to his chest after his country-made pistol went off at around 10.30 am at his Kasba Peth residence.Senior inspector Sandeep Deshmane of Faraskhana police said, “A couple had been living in a rented house in the wada in Kasba Peth since the last few months. They were going through a divorce case and were by themselves at their ground-floor house when the shot was fired. Their two children stay with their grandparents in Shrirampur in Ahilyanagar district. The injured person runs a mobile repair shop in Budhwar Peth, while his wife is a homemaker. The wife was staying in their village and had returned to Pune two days ago.”“We are yet to record the statement of the injured person. The wife claims he tried to shoot himself after an argument, while the husband says his wife had the pistol. We have launched an investigation and will register an FIR only after verifying their claims. Meanwhile, we have seized the country-made pistol from the house,” Deshmane said.“After being shot, the injured person called one of his employees to the house, who took him to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment. We later shifted him to a private hospital for further treatment. He is out of danger,” Deshmane added.
