Jaipur: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Monday arrested a junior engineer of Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (JVVNL) for allegedly accepting a Rs 3,000 bribe to sanction increased load capacity for a residential electricity connection linked to a 10kW solar system.The accused, Manoj Kumar, posted at the JVVNL sub-station in Ramganj, was caught in a trap laid by ACB Jaipur unit after the bureau verified the complaint.The complainant, associated with Solar Rhythm Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd, alleged that Kumar demanded money to increase the sanctioned load capacity of a residential electricity connection to facilitate installation of the solar system.“The accused had demanded Rs 5,000 on Aug 14 to increase the load capacity. During negotiations, the amount was settled at Rs 3,000-4,000,” said a senior ACB officer.Following verification, ACB laid a trap and caught Kumar allegedly accepting Rs 3,000 from the complainant. The bribe amount was recovered.A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. ACB is questioning Kumar to ascertain whether others were involved in the alleged bribery.
